The Pink Cap Project: Japan

Last August, in the midst of the summer heat, I went on a family vacation to Japan. Of course, I wouldn't want to miss the chance to do another Pink Cap Project at the land of the rising sun. In total, we went to 6 cities in 12 days. It was quite intense, hustling in between cities with trains. It wouldn't be possible without the help of all kinds of friendly Japanese that we bumped into. Enjoy!

Summer in Romania

A few months ago, I had the privilege to spend five weeks in a country I have never heard before in my life, for an exchange program with AIESEC. To be honest, I had no idea that a country named Romania exists in Europe. When I told my friends and family, their response would be “Where is Romania?” or even worse, “Why Romania? There is nothing to see there!” In fact, it lowered down my expectation for the perfect summer trip in Europe.

But I was wrong. Turns out that traveling to a country that’s not a main tourist destination and a few people know about has its own beauty. The moment I stepped my feet on Romanian soil I was soaking in everything. The fact that I had no single clue about their culture, their history, their language, their food, and their custom, pushed my adventurous self to the limit.

Through this trip, I learnt to love where I come from more - that is my Tanah Air, Indonesia. Whenever a Romanian ask me where I come from, they would be puzzled and clueless about where is Indonesia in the map - the same way how I responded when I heard 'Romania' the first time. Then they would start asking me tons of questions about Indonesia and for the record, 10 out of 10 of them would be amazed by every single thing I told them about my beloved country. It makes me realise that I come from a very special place and I should be forever grateful for that.

To conclude, I had the time of my life there. And to me, Romania - especially Brasov - will have a special place in my heart forever.

Lima

A week ago, my faculty (Faculty of Engineering) just celebrated its 54th birthday. In accordance to that, a photography competition was held. And these are the photos that I submit for the competition. All about the infamous "Gedung 5" that soon will be - I hope not - demolished. Thankfully I won 2nd place! Such an exciting news for me in the midst of all the madness in campus.

Cheers to that!

Alisha

Meet Alisha Kania. I have been a fan of her through a mutual friend. So when she contacted me to do a shoot, I couldn't say no. She wanted to do a shoot in the wild, inspired by the nature photos that I have been posting on Instagram. So without further hesitation I took her to a secret place (that's not so secret anymore). For the longest time we were shooting at the edge of a cliff - we possibly could have died. But thank goodness we didn't.

Enjoy!

Love + Flair: Down on Love Street

Latest work for a good friend of mine, Emily Jaury. We go way back in middle school when life was all about classroom dramas and E News gossips haha. I'm so proud that she decided to start her own business! And as a part of my support, I agreed on doing a lookbook for her online store. It was a shoot in the middle of my hectic archi-student-life and once again the concept was spontaneous. But I am glad that things went really well! Go check out her online store www.loveandflair.com for 'sweet meets street' outfits.

Explore Bandung

For the past two years, I have been living in Bandung to pursue my Architecture degree. And this past month, I'm lucky to have the chance to explore Bandung's hidden picturesque spots. To some people, Bandung is perceived as the capital of countless factory outlets and delicious culinary treats. But that's not all that the city could offer.

Geographically, the city is surrounded by mountains. Which means that you can drive less than an hour from the city centre to the closest hill and enjoy a breathtaking view of the city, its gorgeous forests and plantations and not to forget Mount Tangkuban Perahu. That was exactly what I did. Once I discovered how charming Bandung's landscape is, my love for this city grows.

Aside from its nature, I am thankful to have met a lot of new friends here for the past few months. And I could totally say they are the most humble group of people I have ever met who share the same passion as I do. A passion to explore and appreciate whatever nature could offer. It felt like a whole different world from where I came from.

With that being said, this post is dedicated to Bandung: the scenic city and its wonderful people.

Perjalanan Bergada Kina 2.0: Pangandaran

First of all, happy 1st birthday to Bergada Kina, my teammates/friends/family/soulmates in Arsitektur Hijau. This time around, we went on a non-architectural-related trip to Pangandaran! It was a last-minute planned trip that went, thankfully, super smooth. Our main target was to experience body rafting in Green Canyon and go to Batu Karas Beach. Sadly, Green Canyon was closed due to the heavy rain the night before. So we went to Citumang River. But it's okay. We all had so much fun. And plus, it was my first ever experience to jump from a 7 meter cliff and to spend the night at the beach with no tent -- we just slept there, on the sand, with a mat and a sleeping bag, under the full moon.

It was definitely an unforgettable trip: in the right place with the right people. And I just can't wait for what's ahead of us (hopefully another trip outside Java!).

Home Away From Home

This is possibly why I haven't been coming home to Jakarta more often as last semester. I've just moved into a new place a couple of months ago and finally finished decorating the room a few days ago. I am totally obsessed with the colour palate of my room: white, turquoise, a hint of wood, a touch of red and leafy greens in my terrace.

A Week in Singapore: II.

Sum up of Singapore trip part two! I just need to point out how magnificent Marina Bay Sands is architectural and structure wise. It was my first time being there and I was blown away. Plus, I got to went into cloud forest which is another magical building Singapore built to preserve certain plants that lives in a climate that's way different from Singapore's. It was epic cold inside.

I am more than pleased shooting with Kodak Portra and as you can see most of the photos turn out to have that particular blue tone from it which I love. You can never go wrong with it, although it did kill my wallet just a bit.

A Week in Singapore: I.

A sum up of my end of year trip to Singapore (part one) last December 2013 - January 2014. I had so much fun catching up with friends that I haven't met for months, even years! Thanks to all Singaporeans for letting me being your burdens for the entire week.

The Pink Cap Project: Singapore

'The Pink Cap Project: Singapore' is a spontaneous project I did with my little sister Talula Fidelia on our end of year trip to Singapore. This project is just another way for me to share my travel diaries, having the pink cap as the datum.

At first I wanted to be able to have at least one photo in each significant tourist and attraction spots in Singapore. But well, we only had one day (the only day I spent entirely with her) so this is the most we could do. Enjoy!

Gunung Putri

It wasn't my first time to hike Gunung Putri. So we all knew what was ahead of us. But sadly there was no sunrise since the cloud was cloudy - that was the only downside. We left Ciumbuleuit around 11AM, hiked all the way to the forest until around 6PM (with breaks, of course). We camped, well sort of. I slept under a tree (no sleeping bags) on a trash bag I laid out on the muddy ground for only approximately one and a half hour - so that was an experience. I didn't really sleep since it was crazy cold. At 2AM we went up to the hill to see the sunrise that didn't show up. We reached the hill earlier, around 4AM so we got to see the entire Bandung lit up with its beautiful lights from above. It was breathtakingly beautiful (sadly I was too tired to even try to take out my camera). After 7AM, we went down and head straight back to campus. All is well.
